Vintage Overview
After an optimal start of vegetation, late frosts cast doubt. Fortunately, the river acted as a rampart. Excellent weather conditions followed. In the cellar, the typicality of each plot guided us. The wines emerged precise, true to themselves.
Vintage Details
It is often said that "the great terroirs look at the water." The Gironde estuary saved them. The particularly mild and dry winter caused an early start of vegetation. The buds developed in optimal conditions from the end of March to mid-April. Unfortunately, the Bordeaux region experienced an episode of intense frost on the nights of April 27th and 28th. The river, a true thermal protector, preserved most of the Chateau Palmer vineyard. The excellent weather conditions at the end of May facilitated flowering and augured well for a good harvest. At the beginning of summer, rainy episodes made it possible to apprehend the summer period with peace of mind but slightly delayed the cessation of the vegetative growth of the vine. Veraison took place in good conditions at the beginning of August. We began the harvest on the 20th with very fine Merlot, then continued with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. From the beginning of vinification, the conditions of the vintage, associated with our management of the vineyard and respect for the terroirs, allowed us to express our plots in a great way.
Vinification
We carry out a large part of the blend of Chateau Palmer as soon as we have run off juice and before malolactic fermentation.
